Benchmark indices were trading flat with a positive bias in Tuesday's volatile session as investors weighed the impact of coronavirus to China's and the world economy.
The S&P BSE Sensex was up 73 points at 41,140 levels. Sun Pharma and HDFC (both up 2%) were the top gainers in the Sensex pack. On the other hand, Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel (down 2%) were the top laggards.
The broader Nifty50 index was hovering around 12,130 levels, up 15 points, or 0.12 per cent.
The Nifty sectoral indices were trading mixed. Among the gainers were Nifty Pharma and Nifty Fin Services indices, both up 0.9 per cent, while Nifty Metal index, down 1.7 per cent, bled the most.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index gained 20 points, or 0.13 per cent, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was up 41 points, or 0.28 per cent.
